Field and Flight Rules - 2007

1. All members and guests must park in the pit area to the East side of the field. Do not drive on the field. If a pilot has a plane in the air when you approach the field do not continue to the parking area until motioned on by a member in the pit area.

2. Fuel your aircraft in the pit area only. Use a recovery system when possible.

3. All trash must be removed from the flying site.

4. No flying after the consumption of alcoholic beverages allowed.

5. Smoking is prohibited within 10 feet of an airplane or fuel being used.

6. Mufflers are required on all engines.

7. All transmitters must display a frequency flag and channel number.

8. A frequency control board will be used for group flying. Return your pin to the board when not flying. Do not turn on your transmitter on for any reason if you do not have the frequency pin for that channel. If a frequency board is not present check with other pilots for conflicts in frequencies.

9. All aircraft must have an identification sticker in or on the aircraft in accordance with AMA requirements.

10. First time flights for new or repaired aircraft shall be given the courtesy of having one flight with no one else in the air.

11. All models will be started in the pit area and in such a manner as to assure that the exhaust and prop wash do not spray other models, accessories, or people.

12. All pilots will position themselves at the East edge of the gravel runway when flying.  

13. Full size aircraft have right of way to the air strip.  

14. All take-offs and landings will be made parallel to the pit area regardless of wind conditions.  

15. There will be no flying to the East of the gravel runway from the pit area South.  

16. There will be no taxiing into the pit or in the pit area. All engines must be stopped before reaching the pit area.  

17. All experienced pilots will give the right of way to beginners on approach to landing unless there is an emergency.  

18. Any person using a gasoline powered engine in any model must have a B/C fire extinguisher by the model in the pit area.  

19. Children at the flying site must be in direct supervision of an adult.  

20. Student pilots may fly only with an instructor on a buddy box system until given the ok by the instructor to solo.  

21. Student pilots will be given priority air space for their flight unless otherwise agreed upon by instructor and student.

To be qualified for unsupervised solo flight, the student must have knowledge of and demonstrate the ability to do the following:

1. Field Safety Rules

2. Impound Area and Frequency Control

3. Assemble and Test Aircraft

4. Start Engine and Tune

5. Perform Flight Maneuvers:

A. Start and Taxi

B. Take Off - (from flight station) Right to Left and Left to Right (Demonstrate ability to take off in either direction according to wind direction)

C. Trim Aircraft for Straight & Level Flight

D. Fly Rectangle Pattern (holding altitude and heading. Fly in both directions)

E. Fly Figure Eight Pattern (Fly in both directions making right hand turns from right side and left side)

F. Slow Flight and Stall Recovery

G. Landing (from left making left turns and from right making right turns)

H. Demonstrate Aborted Landing and Go-Round

I. Taxi Back and Shutdown

J. Secure Equipment (Receiver and transmitter off, antenna down, transmitter in impound, pin removed from frequency board)

Observe student for SAFE operation. Was student aware of wind direction and did he/she compensate for it? Was student aware of position of sun and did he/she avoid flying into glare? Was student aware of other aircraft in the air and other pilots on the flight line? Was the student confident and in control of his/her aircraft at all times?
